Introducing our Intern: Alissa Endres

Who am I?

our intern Alissa

Music, sports, and travel are my top three interests. I find them entertaining of course, but also an excellent way to experience new cultures.  Before joining the Travel Chicks team, I worked as a promotions intern for a local country radio station planning events and concerts.

I also have experience as a marketing intern for the Wisconsin Badgers developing promotion plans for the men’s and women’s soccer teams. This has been a particularly exciting opportunity as I grew up watching Badger Athletics. Although I have lived in Madison, Wisconsin my whole life, I have been lucky enough to travel with my family. Needless to say, I caught the travel bug at a very young age.

My passion and experience with music, sports, and travel influenced my areas of study at the University of Wisconsin. In May 2015, I will graduate with a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship with minors in Spanish and Global Cultures.

I have no idea what I want to do after college. I hope to help people experience life to the fullest through music, sports, or travel (or some combination of the three).  At Travel Chicks TV, we provide resources and tips to help young women like us experience the world. I know I am in the right place as an intern for spring 2014.

The Fun Stuff

The type of music I listen to while walking the class usually matches my outfit (flannel=country etc.). I will eat anything chocolate and buffalo wings are my favorite food. My summer hobby is teaching myself to play the acoustic guitar. In addition to getting drafted to Captain Jack Sparrow’s crew, I would also like to see a meteor shower, swim with dolphins, attend the summer Olympics, and travel to every continent.

My Top 5 Travel Adventures

In response to our recent “5 Adventurous Things Challenge”, here are my top 5 travel adventures.

  1. Losing luggage for a 7-day cruise. This past spring break my family faced the challenge of buying everything the 4 of us would need for a 7-day cruise. Did I mention we only had 2 hours. The nasty weather around the country caused many delays and our luggage never caught up.  I learned 2 important lessons. One, pack all essentials in your carry-on; and two, less is more.
  2. photos of Alissa's travel adventuresRose Bowl in Pasadena, California. This was my first solo trip with friends across the country to watch our beloved Badgers battle Stanford on New Years day 2013.
  3. Jet-skiing in St. Maarten. What a way to see the island and have some fun in the sun.
  4. Zip-lining in Hawaii. Soaring between the mountains of Maui, this was a great bonding experience for my Dad, sister, and I.
  5. Studying abroad. I am currently living this adventure, studying in Sevilla, Spain. My time abroad will take me to new places such as Morocco, Belgium, Portugal and Italy. I am excited for upcoming adventures and learning first hand budget-friendly travel tips.

I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you throughout the semester. Please leave a comment below or send e-mail info@travelchicks.tv with your own study abroad tips or topics you would like us to cover.
